Hadleigh welcomed nearly promoted and near neighbours to the " Millfield " for an early " bottom of the table clash. However after the 90 minutes plus several extra, it was Hadleigh who came out on top with all three points for their first win of the season

Brantham started quickly, and after 5 minutes had a penalty appeal turned down after Lee Grimwood appeared to have been fouled.

Hadleigh then got into their stride, and after 9 minutes took the lead when a corner from Warren Taylor-Holt found defender Kris Rose unmarked on the far post to header in.

As Hadleigh continued to press Paul Hart saw a long range effort skim the near post. At the other end Brantham then gave loud appeals for a penalty which the Referee again turned down.

A Brantham cross by Mann was headed just wide by Lawler, before Paul Hart controlled well from a cross by Warren Taylor -Holt , but his shot was just wide.

Brantham's D. Grimwood's free kick flashed acrossed the Hadleigh goal with Brantham's Mann 's header hitting the bar after 27 minutes.

On 30 minutes Hadleigh had another chance when a Warren Taylor-Holt cross from the right found Ben Deacon in a good position but headed wide.

Following another Hadleigh corner from Warren Taylor -Holt, Liam Jennings powerful shot in was cleared off the line, before Ben Deacon shot wide from distance. Minutes later Ben Deacon run's down the right saw him turn in and beat his marker only to fire straight into keeper Ryan Bedingfield's hands.

Brantham then had a break down the right with a cross in being punched clear by keeper Aaron Benstead , with D. Grimwood firing the loose ball over for Brantham.

In the final minute of the first half , Aaron Benstead saved well from a low shot at the expense of a corner, then punched a dangerous corner ball in clear as Hadleigh's defence looked static.

Brantham's D. Grimwood was tripped on the edge of the "D" , Brantham's Brothers free kick hit the Hadleigh wall, but Brother reacted quickly to the loose ball as his shot in flashed across the Hadleigh goal and out of danger.

Hadleigh then earned a free kick with Warren Taylor-Holt's kick hitting the wall with Paul Hart firing the loose ball over.

Brantham's D. Grimwood was then unlucky as a powerful shot in deceived Aaron Benstead and hit the underside of the bar to come back into play when a goal looked certain, but Grimwood collected the loose ball dribbled through a packed Hadleigh defence with Aaron Benstead eventually  gathering the ball to clear  after 52 minutes

Hadleigh's Ben Deacon was tripped in the area on 55 minutes, this time the Referee giving a penalty, but Brantham keeper Ryan Bedingfield made a superb diving save to deny Paul Hart a goal and Hadleigh's second.

On 62 minutes Brantham's Grimwood attacked again turn defender Simon Hyde twice as he looked to fire at goal , but his angled shot was just over.

As Brantham kept up the pressure a dangerous cross from Brothers was eventually cleared by Brett Girling.  Then on 69 minutes  Brothers went on a solo run and fire into the side netting with Hadleigh's defence beaten.

On 74 minutes Hadleigh defender Kris Rose header clear from a dangerous D. Grimwood shot in.

In the 80th minute a Warren Tayor-Holt free kick for Hadleigh found Duane Wright to header just wide.

Then in final ten minutes plus several minutes of stoppage time it was nearly all Brantham as they looked to earn a point, with Aaron Benstead saving well from shots in by Gunn, Brothers & Mann. But Hadleigh hung on for their first win of the season
