Hadleigh Utd are pleased to announce central defender Mark Goldfinch has agreed to join on a permanent basis after spending the latter part of last season on loan at the club.
The 30yr old put in some outstanding displays whilst on loan at the Millfield and after turning down an offer from AFC Sudbury this week he agreed to sign last night.
"Without doubt this is a major signing for us. Mark completely changed our side during his loan spell and formed a great partnership with Mark Gaisford. In the two season's I have been in charge our biggest problem has been giving cheap, silly goals away and the stats have backed that up. Any team that has ambitions to win leagues must have a tight defence and I now believe we have that. In Gaisford, Goldfinch, Rose and the returning Paul Donnelly we have four superb defenders for this level of football. Mark has turned down a very good offer from Sudbury, far more financially than is on offer here and to be honest when i heard they had approached him i thought that was it for us, so i'm chuffed to see him commit. I think location played a factor for him, also he played well here and knows we have a good chance to have a successful season. We are in talks with other players and hope to make at least two more signings before pre-season games, hopefully one being another striker."
